Dan Pekol, who has owned Chippewa Valley Airport Service since April, 2007, has sold the business to Richmond, VA-based Groome Transportation, effective April 30, 2016.
"They acquired us the Duluth Skyline Shuttle at the end of April," said Pekol, who added that he and his staff of 40 people working at Chippewa Valley Airport Service have been retained.
"There shouldn't be a big change as far as the public is concerned," said Pekol, who added that the new company should be adding more routes in the future.
Groome Transportation has operations in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia. The company, which was established in 1934, provides reliable and comfortable transportation services to more than one million passengers each year.
Groome Transportation drivers are trained in the Smith System, the gold standard of defensive driving standards.
Chippewa Valley Airport Service currently provides service to more than 50,000 passengers each year. TBL
