RDA to work with Moeding downtown

The City of Eau Claire Redevelopment Authority (RDA) this week approved a resolution to work exclusively with Moeding Partners on a proposal to develop Block 7 in the North Barstow Redevelopment District for the next 90 days.
Geoff Moeding, who owns the retail complex that includes the new downtown post office as well as other retail establishments, also has a number of residential properties in the North Barstow region. Block 7 is currently used as surface parking until the downtown parking ramp opens next September.
"We'd like to continue development across the street from our current properties. Our plan is to create four buildings similar to architecture that is already downtown. The buildings would be three to four levels and would have interior parking," said Moeding, who added that he would build residential properties on Wisconsin and Galloway Streets and have retail businesses on the first floor along North Barstow Street with apartments on the upper levels.
"This would be a $14-16 million project. We'd like to start with a building on Wisconsin Street and work our way throughout the site. I see a real opportunity to create retail/office space with living units above on North Barstow. It's a very popular concept that's been successful in the Twin Cities," said Moeding.TBL
