Developer looks at parcel in Menomonie
Eau Claire-based AHMC Asset Management Inc. will be making a presentation on Mon., May 17th to the Menomonie City Council to develop the former Leever's Super Market site at 503 Broadway St. S, Menomonie, for student housing and retail space.
AHMC's proposal calls for developing about 55,700 square feet in two, four-story buildings. The former grocery store facility will be demolished. About 32,000 square feet will be dedicated for retail development.
The two-phase project would include the Menomonie Market Food Co-op leasing space on the first floor of one of the buildings with 62 apartment units developed above. The second phase of the project would include retail on the first floor and another three floors of upscale student housing. The facility would also include underground parking.
AHMC President and CEO Cary Osborn was not available to comment prior to TBL deadline. City of Menomonie Administrator Lowell Prange said the project will be presented to the Plan Commission on May 24th for a public hearing before the full city council acts on the proposal at its June 6th meeting.
"There are some density and height issues that will need to be addressed," said Prange. TBL
