Marshfield Clinic to start three-phase expansion
Marshfield Clinic, which opened its 91,000-square-foot clinic at 2116 Craig Rd., Eau Claire, in 1999, received site plan approval this week from the City of Eau Claire Plan Commission to begin construction of a $25 million, 54,000-square-foot expansion project. The Eau Claire City Council will act on the plan at its next meeting.
According to Chuck Geurink of Madison,WI-based Marshall Erdman & Associates, who represented the company that designed the existing medical facility, the expansion is needed to accommodate continued growth.
"The original eight-and-a-half acre site has almost been fully developed. Marshfield Clinic acquired seven acres from Sacred Heart Hospital across the street, which will primarily accommodate parking for clinic employees," said Geurink, who added that the first phase of the expansion project will extend into the parking lot on the west side of the clinic.
The expanded area will allow the clinic to establish a new imaging center that will serve patients who need CT and MRI scanning procedures, according to Marshfield Clinic Western District Administrator Dan DeGroot, who added that once the addition is complete, the facility will occupy about 145,000 square feet.
