"We know Maverick's stations in Eau Claire are the market leaders. I'm very familiar with the community and these stations, and I know we will continue to win here," said Mid-West Family President Tom Walker, whose family owned and operated I-94, WEAQ-AM 790 and Oldies 92.9FM from 1992-1996.
Vice President/General Manager George Roberts will remain in charge of the six radio stations. He said the change to have local owners will serve the community well.
"I get a terrific feeling about this. It's going to be a good thing for the people in this building, but also for the entire market," he said.
Approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will take about 90-100 days. However, Mid-West Family will begin operating the stations under a local marketing agreement beginning May 1st.
