Boater's Choice Marine to relocate near Freeway
Posted: June 23, 2006
TBL has learned that Matt Asplund, owner of Boater's Choice Marine, 2644 Highway 53, Chippewa Falls, since he established the business in 1999, has purchased a 12-acre parcel located on the north side of the Melby Road/Highway 53 Bypass intersection in the Village of Lake Hallie from Lee and Donna Wheeler.
According to Asplund, the relocation is expected to be completed this fall after a new 15,000-square-foot facility is constructed. Ground was broken on the project this week.
"The main thing is that we lease in our current location, so this will give us a chance to own our own building. But we are also looking to stay on the highway now that the bypass is almost complete," said Asplund, who added, "I think we're going to be pretty visible in our new location until more activity occurs in the Melby Road area."
Boater's Choice Marine, a full-service dealership specializing in sales, service, parts and accessories, has 14 employees. Asplund said he has already hired two new people this year and will likely add another one or two employees once the relocation and expansion in completed in late August.
Dean Larsen of Acquisition Realty & Development handled the building sale agreement.
