Construction to begin on veterans facility

TBL has learned that construction of a $15.4 million skilled veterans nursing facility in Chippewa Falls will begin next month.
According to Bill Napier, a project manager with the Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA), the 81,200-square-foot complex will be located between the existing National Guard Armory and Cray Boulevard, across County Trunk Highway J from the Northern Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled.
The project consists of a new, 72-bed one-story facility with medical, receiving, maintenance and food service operations on the 15,600-square-foot lower level and private household rooms and a common area with nursing facilities on the 65,600-square-foot first floor.
According to DOA Division of State Facilities Section Chief Dan Stephans, the first phase of the project is estimated to cost $9.2 million.
Middleton,WI-based Miron Construction is the general contractor for the project. River Falls,WI-based Frisbie Architects is the project designer. TBL
