St. Louis company acquires Max Phillips & Sons
TBL has learned that St. Louis,MO-based Alter Trading Corp. has finalized the purchase of Max Phillips & Sons Inc., effective Feb. 1. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We purchased the business this week and intend to operate under the Max Phillips name for the time being," said Interim Manager Andy Polhamus, who added that he was not able to discuss any more details about the transaction.
Max Phillips & Sons, 3532 White Ave., Eau Claire, which was founded 75 years ago, specializes in buying all types of metal and is the largest aluminum recycler in West Central Wisconsin.
Alter Trading Corp., which has a processing mill in LaCrosse,WI, used to have an operation on Eau Claire's west side, near the Menards office headquarters. However, the company sold the land and building four years ago.
Alter Trading Corp., a privately-owned family business, is one of the nation's leading scrap metal recyclers and brokers with processing centers and offices throughout seven states in the Midwest.
