As was first reported in the June 26, 2009, issue of The Bottom Line, the owners of Kohel Power Center and MDMA Equipment announced plans to merge their John Deere dealerships. In an Aug. 10th news release, the deal is now finalized as the company will now be known as Tractor Central.
"We are excited to bring together the Kohel and MDMA groups, who together have a 98-year history of outstanding customer service," said Sig Weiss, who owned MDMA Equipment with Gene Schlosser, who added, "Tractor Central's goal is to make this transition as seamless as possible..."
Jack Kohel, along with his brother, Pudge, employed about 100 people prior to the consolidation.
"It's an exciting and unique opportunity to bring enhanced product selection at competitive prices," said Jack Kohel.
Tractor Central will continue with operations in Arcadia, Cameron, Chippewa Falls, Durand, Eau Claire, Granton, Menomonie and Mondovi. All of the employees have been retained by the new company.
Tractor Central sells and services a full line of John Deere agricultural products that now includes self-propelled sprayers. In addition, the company also sells and services John Deere turf and utility equipment for home and commercial lawn and grounds care, as well as John Deere skid steer loaders for farm, residential properties and government use. The combined operation will honor all purchase, warranty and service contracts that were established under the separate entities.
