Nestle expansion is approved for Gateway

The City of Eau Claire Plan Commission this week approved a site plan for a 250,000-square foot expansion of its infant formula manufacturing facility located at 3555 Preston Rd., which is located in the Gateway West Industrial Park.

The company, which employs more than 400 people at its two operations in Eau Claire, is expected to begin construction this spring once all of the city permits are approved.

Nestle Eau Claire Plant Manager John Younger was not able to comment on the project, nor were any officials in the firm's public relations department in New Jersey.

Nestle' USA, a part of Switzerland-based Nestle' S.A., is the world's largest food company that reported 2007 sales of $8.25 billion. TBL
