EC Plan Commission approves hotel site plan

The City of Eau Claire Plan Commission this week approved a site plan for a 90-unit hotel to be developed beginning this spring on the north side of County Highway Q and Black Avenue. Haselwander Companies Inc., the developer of the 23-acre parcel known as Princeton Crossing Development, plans to build a four-story Fairfield Inn & Suites on a site that is located north of the current Kwik Trip gas and convenience store.
"Our intention is to finish the planning on the project this fall and winter and start the project first thing in the spring, with a completion set for early 2016," said Haselwander Companies Inc. President Neil Haselwander, who added that the Marriott brand hotel franchise has been approved.
The Eau Claire City Council will act on a development agreement for the first phase of the Princeton Crossing project at its next meeting. That agreement will include plans for utility installation and street construction. Haselwander Companies Inc. was involved with Ayres Associates to construct the current roundabout located at the intersection of County Highway Q and Black Avenue.
In future years, Haselwander plans to attract offices, restaurants and possibly a big-box retailer.
"We've got some good things in the works. We have some very interested parties and we've spoken to two big-box users. But it's too early to determine how much this will cost because we have more planning to do," said Haselwander Companies Inc. Vice President of Sales & Marketing Greg Haselwander.
There are currently 10 Fairfield Inn & Suites properties in Wisconsin. TBL
