Chippewa County projects to spur job creation
At least two of a number of potential economic development deals in Chippewa County are close to coming to fruition, which will likely result in a significant amount of job creation, according to the executive director of the Chippewa County Economic Development Corp. (CCEDC).
"We have had a number of distribution companies contact us primarily because they are interested in establishing short-haul runs to the Twin Cities. We've had site selectors contact us with respect to the "spec" building in Chippewa Falls, as well as plastics firms and some medical technology device companies...so there has been a lot of activity," said Walker, who added, "A lease has been signed by a coffee distributorship to consolidate its operations in Chippewa Falls...and another deal is pending...from a company based in Wyoming to open a manufacturing operation in Cornell."
Although Walker said he could not comment on the specifics, the out-of-state firm that is in the process of purchasing an existing facility along Highway 64 will establish a manufacturing operation that makes a unique product related to the hobby industry.
In addition, another company is considering a relocation to the Village of Lake Hallie that could create up to 50 jobs. TBL
