Mega acquires six area Holiday Station stores

TBL has learned that Mega Express Stores and Mega Foods Supermarkets, a divisionof Consumers Cooperative Association, has purchased the assets of six Holiday Station Stores in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls, effective Mon., Oct. 27th.
As part of the agreement between Mega and Holiday, Mega will operate six of Holiday's currently corporate-owned stores in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls, including the Eau Claire businesses at 6123 Truax Blvd., 1731 Brackett Ave., 2230 Birch St., 2806 Golf Rd., 2940 N. Clairemont Ave., and the store at 501 N. Bridge St., Chippewa Falls.
"This transaction will allow Mega-Holiday to remain the pre-eminent convenience store/gas stations in the Eau Claire market," said Holiday Stores President Melanie Schaller.
According to Mega Chief Executive Officer Rick Lambrecht, Consumers Cooperative intends to retain all of the Holiday employees.
"We plan to keep all of their people. Our stores are successful and highly regarded in our communities and this conversion will take us to an even greater level of service, programs and quality for our customers. Holiday's reputation for excellence was a big attraction for us," said Lambrecht, who added that the newly-acquired properties will be leased for the time being.
When the conversion is completed later this year, Mega will operate 16 Mega-Holiday Station Stores. Mega Foods and Express Stores are owned and operated by Consumers Cooperative Association, the nation's larget retail food coop. The company owns and operates Mega Pick 'n Save supermarkets and Express Convenience Stores, Mega Lube & Oil Care Centers throughout the Chippewa Valley and Central Wisconsin.
Holiday Station Stores has 450 corporate and franchise locations in states throughout the Upper Midwest and Alaska. TBL
