Brew pub to move to Osseo, replaced by Monk’s

Northwoods Brew Pub, 3560 Oakwood Mall Dr., Eau Claire, announced to its employees last Sunday that it will be relocating the business to a former dairy plant in Osseo. However, the building will not be vacant very long since Monk's Bar & Grill, which has operations in Baraboo, Sun Prairie, Middleton and Wisconsin Dells, WI, will be opening in the Oakwood Mall Drive location this coming spring.
"We're looking at November 1st to be our day for closure of the Eau Claire location and we're hoping to relocate to the Osseo location and be fully operational by early January," said Northwoods Brew Pub General Manager Sean Annis, who added that the new location will allow for a larger brewing area.
"We will have a larger brewery, a pub and bar area and a streamlined menu. We will be teaming up with Nels Gunderson, who owns the building in Osseo. He will be adding a banquet hall on the upper level of the two-story building," said Annis.
Ryan Poppenga, who has restaurant experience in the Wisconsin Dells area, will be buying a franchise from the owners of Monk's Bar & Grill. However, Poppenga was reluctant to discuss the deal until the sale of the building closes in early December.
"Until we close on the property, we really don't want to say too much," said Poppenga.
Dean Larsen of Acquisition Realty & Development, who handled the sale transaction on behalf of Jerry Bechard, principal owner of Northwoods Brew Pub, said Poppenga indicated that he wanted to be open by March, 2016. TBL
