Goodwill to build on current North Point RV site
TBL has learned that Menasha,WI-based Goodwill Industries of Northwest Wisconsin Inc. has signed a letter of intent to purchase about a three-acre parcel presently owned and occupied by North Point RV Ltd. at 2759 S. Prairie View Rd., Chippewa Falls.
As was first reported in the Dec. 17, 2010, issue of The Bottom Line, the owners of North Point RV plan to move and expand their recreational vehicle business to about a six-acre parcel along the Highway 53 Freeway. The Village of Lake Hallie Plan Commission this week approved a zoning change for a portion of the property to be purchased by North Point RV Owners Paul and Mark Doughty.
According to Dean Larsen of Acquisition Realty & Development, who represents one of the land owners along the Highway 53 Freeway and Goodwill Industries, Goodwill plans to demolish the existing facility on South Prairie View Road and construct a new building on the eastern portion of the lot. Tom Fisk, a real estate broker with Green Bay,WI-based Grubb Ellis & Pfefferley, confirmed that Goodwill will be on upcoming Village of Lake Hallie Plan Commission and Village Board agendas requesting conditional use permits to build a 25,000-30,000 square foot complex.
Jackie Draws, chief financial officer for Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin, told TBL that the land purchase is expected to close by early April.
"We will lease the building back to North Point RV until the end of September and then we will take down the building and begin construction for an opening in spring of 2012," said Draws.
Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin Inc. is one of 207 regional, non-profit human services organizations nationwide. It serves 35 Wisconsin communities, including 21 retail stores and training centers. There are currently Goodwill stores in Eau Claire, Menomonie and Rice Lake. TBL
