TBL has learned that Hidden Valley Commercial Properties, LLC, will be developing a 50,000-square-foot manufacturing plant for Shape Products, LLC, at 5205 Freitag Dr., Menomonie. Hidden Valley recently purchased 11 acres of land from the City of Menomonie to assist with the project.
"When it's all said and done, we'll have the largest plastic reprocessor line in the Midwest. We have equipment coming in from California," said Shape Products, LLC, President and CEO Rock Eiden, who added, "We used to buy plastic and convert it for our use. But rather than buy it, we can now use the scrap plastic from a number of different sources, pellitize it, and convert it into our finished product".
Shape Products, 1821 Indianhead Dr., Menomonie, has a manufacturing facility in Appleton,WI, and opened another plant in Bradenton,FL, in 2012. The company, which was established in 2005, specializes in making window well covers, utility tubs, Bio-Orb composters, wardrobe doors, skylights, glass sheets and spillways. The firm supplies its products to retailers including Menards and Lowe's.
According to the building permit application, which is to be released this coming week by the City of Menomonie Building Inspector's Office, the value of the new building is $1,551,096. Eiden said he is working with UW-Stout and other area manufacturers to utilize scrap plastic. He said he has also applied to the State of Wisconsin to possibly receive state tax credits.
Cedar Falls Building Systems is the general contractor. The project is expected to be completed by the end of February. TBL
