Grube acquires assets of former Water's Edge
TBL has learned that Al Grube, who owned and operated The View on Lake Wissota from 1986-2007, has finalized the purchase of the assets of the former Water's Edge Supper Club, 9504 County Highway S, Chippewa Falls, from Commerce Bank. The new name of the business is The Edge Pub & Eatery on Lake Wissota.
The two-story facility, which has been unoccupied as of late, was most recently known as Native Bay. Prior to that, it operated as The Docks on Wissota. According to Grube, the newly-acquired building is being renovated for an early January opening.
"We need to install all new kitchen equipment and fix frozen pipes and do a lot of general cleaning...but we will definitely open the restaurant side of the business before spring," said Grube, who added, "The restaurant will be casual fine dining with entrees in the $8-10 range, featuring steaks, chicken and homemade pizzas."
The Edge Pub & Eatery, which will have seating for about 150 people, offers 72 boat slips, and will employ between 12-15 people.
"There will be live bands on Sunday afternoons and we will cater to the boating and beach crowd during the summer. We have a main gas pump and have a gear tow for those customers who need it," said Grube, who also owns the Lake Wisssota Inn Condos, LLC, on a lot across from the lake that was formerly occupied by the Lake Wissota Inn.TBL
