River Prairie South hopes to attract large retailer

The 40.25 acre development located at the southwest intersection of the Highway 53 Freeway and River Prairie Drive has received the necessary approvals from the City of Altoona and the developer is now working with interested users of the property, according to Casey Weiss, a principal owner of LaCrosse-based Access Commercial Real Estate (ACRE).
"This year has been going well. We have a couple of grocery stores that are not from the Eau Claire area that are doing their due diligence. Our goal is to get one or two large retailers in there," said Weiss, who added, "We are going to have pad sites set up by this summer for a convenience store or restaurant. We will be moving dirt in the next month or two. I envision this being a five to eight year project".
The southwest quadrant of River Prairie is being designed with the concept of having eight outlots developed around a large grocer, "big box" user or home improvement store. The outlots, or pad sites, could be utilized by an office building, a financial institution, a fast food restaurant, an automotive-related store and possibly a hotel. The general implementation plan has been approved by the Altoona Plan Commission and Altoona City Council.
ACRE, a full-service commercial real estate firm which specializes in brokerage work, also owns investment properties for future development. The company recently completed a project in Rochester,MN.
