DeFattas to establish new ENT clinic in River Prairie
Posted: February 28, 2014
Drs. Robert and Rima DeFatta, who are ear, nose and throat specialists who spent the past three years with Sacred Heart Hospital, are in the process of building DeFatta ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) & Facial Plastic Surgery at 1490 River Edge Trail, Altoona.
"We started this with a goal in mind to bring a higher level of care and services. We want to be a one-stop shop for everyone that experiences head and neck cancer or addressing hearing issues," said Dr. Rima DeFatta, who added that the practice will eventually employ about 12-15 staff members, including speech and language pathologists. The practice will be affiliated with the Oak Leaf Clinic, which is also constructing a surgical hospital in the River Prairie development.
"We will also be doing hearing and balance testing with audiologists and specialists in voice and breathing issues as well as swelling disorders. We will be working with ear, nose and throat cases along with facial and reconstructive surgery. We have heard so many patients tell us that they want to avoid fragmented care and get a more concise plan when they're dealing with these types of issues," she said.
DeFatta ENT & Facial Plastic Surgery is moving into a 10,000-square-foot facility currently under construction in the River Prairie development. Hoeft Builders Inc. is the general contractor of the $1.4 million complex.
"The goal is to open at the end of June," said Dr. Rima DeFatta.TBL
