Prestige Auto to buy former Saturn facility

Dan and Lisa Mattoon, owners of Prestige Auto and Prestige Select in Eau Claire, a used vehicle dealership in Menomonie and Chippewa Valley RV in Lake Hallie, are in the process of finalizing the purchase of the former Saturn/Hummer building on Highway 93 in Eau Claire.
"We hope to close sometime between December 15th and January 10th. The idea is to get into the facilty by the early part of January. The new location will be the main location for Kia and possibly some other options in the future," said Dan Mattoon, who is buying the 33,000-square-foot building from Neenah,WI-based Bergstrom Automotive.
"We're going to move the entire operation out of our current location to the former Saturn building. I think the traffic will double in the new location and it will be closer to some of the other franchises. It will be more convenient and a better buying and service experience for our customers," said Mattoon, who currently has 36 employees and expects to hire 15 more workers.
"We've literally outgrown our existing facility. We sold 130 cars last month and this facility is really only designed for 70-80 vehicles each month," said Mattoon, who added that the Golf Road location that sells Mitsubishi and other pre-owned vehicles will remain in its current capacity.
The former Saturn complex, which has been vacant since General Motors discontinued the Saturn line nearly four years ago, was originally listed for sale for $5 million and most recently listed for $4.49 million. However, Mattoon said he paid "substantially less than that" for the complex.
"We don't know yet what we're going to do with the existing facility," he said.TBL
