TBL has learned that Woonsocket,RI-based CVS Caremark Corp. will be developing a 13,225-square-foot pharmacy at 2142 Brackett Ave., Eau Claire, which is the site currently occupied by The Red Parrot. Wisconsin CVS Pharmacy, LLC, will be applying for a rezoning request and site plan approval for the project to the City of Eau Claire Plan Commission at its May 5th meeting.
"The request includes vacating a portion of Donnellan Lane and realigning the road to the west. It will be a big safety improvement and provide better access to the site," said City of Eau Claire Planner Daryl Tufte.
The demolition of the existing building that used to be occupied by The Red Parrot will be the responsibility of Idriz Sabani, the owner of The Altoona Family Restaurant who owns the 5,900-square-foot facility.
Although CVS Caremark Public Relations Director Mike DeAnglelis did not wish to comment on the new Eau Claire store, he did confirm construction of a new CVS Caremark Pharmacy at 433 S. Broadway St., Menomonie.
"We should be under construction in Menomonie this spring with a store opening scheduled for mid-September. The store will employ about 20 people," said DeAngelis.
During the past three months, CVS Caremark opened 60 new retail drugstores and relocated 17 retail drugstores. The company now operates 7,717 locations in 46 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Brazil.
CVS Caremark (NYSE:CVS) reported record net revenues of $126.8 billion in 2013, with pharmacy services up 3.8 percent and retail pharmacy up 3.1 percent. TBL
