Gordy’s plans new store in Stout Tech Park
Posted: October 10, 2014
The Menomonie City Council this week referred a rezoning request to its Plan Commission on behalf of Gordy's County Market. The property, which is located between Red Cedar Road and Technology Drive in the Stout Technology Park, is currently zoned as a specialized industrial district. The owners of the grocery store chain are requesting the land be zoned for a local commercial district.
"We're actively seeking all of the approvals. We're in the process of building a 40,000-square-foot store in Menomonie," said Gordy's County Market Vice President Rick Schafer, who added that the parcel was purchased from the Stout Technology Park.
"All of the financing is in place and if all of the approvals are met, we're planning on breaking ground in April…with a completion date set for October, 2015," said Schafer.
Gordy's County Market currently has 16 stores in West Central Wisconsin as well as eight Gordy's Express Fuel Stations. The family-owned company was established by Gordy Schafer in 1966.
The Menomonie Plan Commission will discuss the rezoning issue at its meeting on Oct. 27th. The Menomonie City Council will hold a public hearing on the matter at its meeting on Nov. 3rd. TBL
